    Question Problems backing up database

    Hi, hoping someone can help me.
    I currently subscribe for your premium hosting plan and so far so good.....except for one problem. My database has grown considerably since I started with byet. When my db was 50mb and less I had no problems backing it up with phpmyadmin.....however, it has reached 127.2mb (as reported by phpmyadmin) and I'm having troubles getting complete backups.

    To begin with, somewhere over 50mb the export zip feature ceased to work. Now when I try to zip export I only get 1kb zips......so I switched to exporting uncompressed. Problem now is my downloads always seem to get cut short, it seems the connection is dropped before the dl has finished, leaving me with incomplete and probably corrupted db backups....not a good thing.

    Can someone help me figure a way to get proper db backups?

    Have you tried using Export from the phpMyAdmin home screen, selecting your database, then compressed (format of your choice) and clicking Go?

    Also, if you can pop one of those 1KB zips into notepad and tell me what's in there, perhaps that'll help.

    Ok ya, guess I should be a little more detailed about my backup routine.....keep in mind I was having no probs until my db got around 80mb or so.

    So my backup proceedure....
    First I copy my site via ftp to my hd....no problems there.
    Then I loggin to cpanel....goto phpmyadmin.....select my db......select all tables......goto the export tab.....basically leave all the settings as default except for 1: "Maximal length of created query", the default is 50000 but I've been changing it to 250000 as my db is being reported as 127mb......next i check off save as file.......I was (up to 50mb db size) selecting zip but after my db exceeded 50mb I was getting 1kb zips, so now I've just been saving to my hd as an uncompressed sql file.

    As I said in my opening message my downloads never seem to complete fully....last week my db downloaded as 98.7mb....this week it was only 89mb, and my site has only grown over the week not contacted.......also as it's dl'ing my transfer speeds start to fluctuate and eventually slow down, and then the dl just ends obviously incomplete.

    Here's the zip file when opened with notepad

    <br />
    <b>Fatal error</b>: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 86569873 bytes) in <b>/usr/local/cpanel/base/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/libraries/zip.lib.php</b> on line <b>114</b><br />

    Thanks for getting back to me......

    Ah ha... and the error shows...

    Contact support, inform them you were attempting to perform a backup and it failed with 1KB zip archives being given out and provide that little snippet from the zip archive, our techs will be able to fix it.
